Google’s new Gmail tabs help de-clutter the mailbox and I really like this aspect of having my mail categorized. I can read the emails I need to attend to immediately without sorting through a lot of promotional material of which I can go to later, where they are nicely sorted in their own promotional tab.
However, this poses a problem for those marketers who rely on getting the word out about their business to their readers via email, which usually get dropped into Gmail’s promotional tab and could very well be lost to our readers. The possible outcome of this could be lost business, simply because a lot of people might not think to look beyond the primary tab, or forget to, actually as a user this happened to me for a while.
There is a solution which entails a bit of work initially but it will pay in the long run, ensuring you get your emails read by the majority of your audience. This simply involves dragging an email for one tab to the other and Gmail will remember where to put future email of the same name. You can also change the settings to achieve this.
The short video below shows you how to do this and offers the suggestion of producing a short video yourself, this will be to assist your readers by showing them how to get your emails into their primary tab, ensuring your mail is not hidden and forgotten…
How To Ensure Your Email Goes To The Primary in Gmail
