Blogging Tips from Darren Rowse while he talks to Marc Baumann, an Internet Consultant and Journalist about blogging and microblogging. While discussing the main reason to start a blog as an individual or indeed why a company should set up a blog – Darren Rowse mentions the two things that attracted him to blogging. One it gave him a voice and allowed his circle of influence to grow. The second influence was that Blogging draws people together if you have an interest or a passion about something, or even if you have a product, blogging can draw people together to discuss and interact around that interest, which can be an enriching experience for all.
Of all the tips and strategies for starting a blog the main tip, in fact crucial the one that people new to blogging should consider is that of the content. Darren emphasized that you have to think about the needs of the readers and how you will cover the topic. Will it be covered in a way that will teach and educate through your topic or will you cover the news in your chosen area or maybe your content will be presented in a way that will draw people together as a community.
Darren talks Of the current trends moving on from blogging to microblogging using tools such as Tumblr, Twitter and FriendFeed …Darren feels that this will not replace blogging – people are working in all areas at the moment and it is an emerging or collaboration of different tools that feed in together and he does not see it replacing blogging where one can go deeper into a topic. Convergence is where it is at… playing with the different tools.
Darren reveals that the most important reward from his blogging endeavors is being able to earn a full time living as well as having the opportunity to meet and teach people through his blogs and connect with other people. Take a look at the video to see the rest of Daren’s blogging comments
